Brussels

I'm not sure quite where Brussels has been on my schedule of European cities I want to visit. It was certainly on the list, just not that near the top. In fact, it wasn't even top of my list of cities I want to visit in Belgium!

However, a gallery here is showing a collection of ceramics made by Nick Cave, and that has bumped the city to the top of the list :-)

We had a fairly civilised flight time, so it wasn't too early a start to the day, with Street Cars collecting us at seven o'clock this morning. The only downside was the we were flying into Charleroi, which is a fair way out of Brussels. Still, we found a coach, and grabbed what seemed to be the last couple of seats.

A walk from the station to the AirBnB was a little odd, in that we started in what seemed quite a rough and run down area, but which became progressively nicer until we ended up at the studio apartment on the edge of quite a funky little area of town. 

Having unpacked and freshened up, we went out for a walk enjoying a few drinks and a bite to eat as we mooched about. The perfect way to spend out first evening in a new place.
