Only by the Night

[Back-blipped on 4/7/2013]

We blared out Kings of Leon's fourth album of the same title as we travelled back from Herne Bay this evening. We needed something to keep us awake & driving in a straight line.

We had a very good, calm flight back this morning from Kos, landing at Gatwick at 6am local time. We didn't depart until 4.30am (6.30am UK) & so yesterday was a very long day & being quite tall, with planes typically being rather cramped, I didn't get much sleep. Nevertheless, our flight followed the rising of the sun & so on our arrival we were greeted with bright sunlight & 14 degree heat - fabulous, we've brought some sun back! We said our farewells to our new friends Paulo & Jo, who'd kept us fun & entertaining company the last few days at the hotel & during our flight, & as they headed back to Hemel Hempstead, we made for the trains & back to normality ourselves.

Once home, & after some unpacking & gardening (Jen couldn't resist tackling some of the weeds that have definitely made themselves at home during our absence!), we crashed in our bed for a few hours much needed kip.

We found the energy this afternoon to head to Kent to visit my Dad & step ma Jenny. We chilled in the beautiful Sunday sun with some drinks, talked of our holiday & even managed to have our Sunday roast al fresco (it's like we were still in Greece!). We had a lovely day & were truly knackered by the end of it.

This stunning sunset over Herne Bay sea front marked our journey homeward.
