North Uist and Berneray.
Our younger son and partner left a day earlier (Friday) than originally scheduled. The rugby season has been a fixtures mess, games off, rescheduled etc; and an important one was rescheduled for the Saturday. I was sorry to see them go. Their ferry was then pushed back, the continuous strong and cold winds of the last few days coming to a head. They left and got to the boat, and the crossing was okay. The captain announced there’ll be no more sailings this weekend. They’d a hard journey on mainland.
We and the wee family ventured out for a snack lunch in our cars, overlooking Vallay Island to the north. It’s a great location and good food outlet, we’d checked ahead to see if open. We drove up to Berneray over the causeway, watched some seals and then to East Beach. It really blowing, our daughter in-law stayed in the car with our grandson. The views to Harris were still good.
On the way back we went to Co-op. “There’ll be no more deliveries till Monday” ..so my wife and I menu planned ahead.
We’d a cosy night indoors.
