Ist Class
In Dinning Car ‘Diana’ on The Churnett Valley Steam Railway. A February Birthday present for me from lovely D-in-L and grandchildren, but booked for today . What a lovely experience it was, definitely first class. All the waiting staff were brilliant as was our 3-course meal and the super country views………. BUT,
A downside, the steam engine broke down. Luckily only a quarter of a mile from the halfway point. The very nice senior attendant, who is also one of the train drivers filled in the ½ hour delay to tell us that a diesel engine was on the way to pick us up and gave us a lot of history about the poorly engine and also lots about the valley railway itself.
Back home and it wasn’t too long before we were picked up and whisked off to The Aston Marina in Stone, Staffs to join in more Birthday celebrations for D-in-L’s Partner. More super food, drink and very good company.
Wish I'd taken photos of our steam engine before we got on as as our intrepid diesel rescuer wasn't so interesting.
Extra: Us waiting for our adventure to begin.
