Fourth of July

Those drops upon my window pane.
Oh, God, another day of rain.
last night it chucked it down for hours
And battered down my garden flowers.
Why won't it just go away
And leave us with a sunny day?
A ticket I'll get ere day is done,
And bugger off to Spanish sun!

But ,just a minute ,what am I saying!
In south west desert, nineteen were praying
For just a downpour, such as ours
To dowse a fire of many hours!

Be grateful then for wind and rain
That leaves those drops on window pane.

And think of them!
