Freedom!
I slept much better last night :-). Was awake at 6.30am.
I could write so much about today but it would take ages and I am desperately trying to get my journal up to date.
Suffice to say it involved hilarious (and lovely) fellow patients who all agreed laughter is the best medicine (and there was a lot of laughter) brilliant, hard working and caring nurses who also agreed laughter is the best medicine, and down to earth doctors with no hint of the God Complex.
The doctor I saw in the morning said my temperature, BP, and oxygen levels were all back to within normal ranges and if my blood results at lunch time showed my infection markers had reduced enough, then I would be able to get home.
Bloods were taken and thankfully the result came back showing the infection markers were greatly reduced and a second doctor popped in to see me and confirmed I could go home with a weeks course of oral antibiotics. Yay! :D
When D arrived to pick me up he came in the ward then popped out again to find the charge nurse to see if my prescription had arrived from the Pharmacy. When he went out the room the conversation with K, the 70 year old patient (and a game old bird) in the bed next to mine went like this...
K - Diane, is that your husband?
Me - Yes it is.
K - He's the double of Ronan Keating!
Me - HahahahahahahahahahahahaBREATHEhahahahahahahahahahaha
K - He is! It's his eyes. Not that I want you to think I was staring at his eyes!
Me - HahahahahahahahahahahahaBREATHEhahahahahahahahahahaha
K - Don't tell him I said this till you're away!!
D reappeared and wondered why we were all staring at him and giggling! He was just as amused when I told him on the way home :-))
My prescription wasn't at the ward yet and as Alan had a swim at 5pm, we had to head home so D could help with that, then D went back up to the hospital to collect it. I asked him to take chocolates for the nurses and my fellow inmates, and when he walked back into the Ward K shouted 'here's Ronan!" hahahaha!
Meanwhile I was getting showered and into clean PJs and appreciating all over again, my bedroom and bathroom!
A quiet night dozing in front of the TV.
The sunshine hitting Strathearn Valley on the way home was beautiful. I felt so thankful to be going home and able to witness it.
