Today I was going to repair the fence between the patio and the side lawn.  The only thing holding it up is (was) the Honey Suckle and the Winter Jasmin, and both will need to be cut back in order to take the fence down to replace the posts which are rotten.  As both flowers are just coming into bloom (see extra) I was forbidden to proceed!!
 
So we’ve had to come to a compromise.  Come the autumn it will all be cut back and the fence repaired, unless of course it falls down in the meantime.    Hopefully the plates/straps I put on this morning will help put off the inevitable.
