Walking towards the light
if you believe that kind of thing. This is a church in Horsham in Sussex. Strider and I drove down there this morning as we fancied spending a bit of time together and he was going onto Arundel and having a few nights away on his own. The drive down was absolutely stunning, glorious sunshine, and the Surrey countryside through Abinger Hammer and Holmbury St Mary was particularly lovely. The latter is quite isolated and sits on the side of a hill with a magnificent church.
Horsham is a busy, generally pretty town with a lot of pubs, in one of which - The Black Jug - we had a superb lunch. The extra is of some attractive houses near the middle of town. As a place it seems to have quite a strong sense of civic pride and there seem to be a lot of community activities.
We found an elderly gentleman who had fallen over on some steps and cut his arm so we made sure he was ok and carried his pull-along to the top of the steps for him. By coincidence he was meeting his son in the same pub that we were heading for so Strider alerted the staff to have the first aid kit ready and made sure he met his son okay. He seemed to be more embarrassed and angry rather than upset. I totally get that.
Excellent trip out. Did a few bits in the garden tonight before calling it a day. Really lovely early evening sun made it warm and nice to be out.
