V&A Dundee
I was up and out early for a walk, as I knew my opportunity for a walk later would be quite limited today. It was a nice morning and it’s always nice to be out and about when it is still quiet. I didn’t meet many people. The swan was on her nest and the goose was on hers. Apart from that not an awful lot to see this morning. Once home I had to get myself organised and back out to get the bus to Edinburgh and then a train to Dundee. I was off to a baby shower – my first ever baby shower.
I couldn’t believe how busy Edinburgh was at that time in the morning – so many tourists and there wheeled suitcases swarming around Princes Street, and then and the station was equally busy – packed in fact. My train was on time and it was also packed, thankfully I got a seat – though many were booked. I was on the “wrong” side of the train – in that I had a land facing seat, so I settled in and managed to block the noise out and enjoyed the opportunity to read my book. A friend and her daughter picked me up in Dundee, and we were quite early, so we took a scenic drive to the venue. All in all it was a lovely afternoon, catching up with friends, eating too much lovely cake and playing some silly games. The gifting made me rather uncomfortable, and the mum to be will have been quite underwhelmed with my gift – but I will buy something for the baby when it arrives – she (they know it is going to be a she), will have so much stuff.
All too soon, we were saying our goodbyes. I was dropped off at the station and enjoyed the train journey back, until a bunch of very noisy youths got on and broke the peace. The day had been very grey, but as we got to Kirkcaldy and the Fife coast, the sky turned bright blue – which made for a lovely journey down the coast – which rather distracted me from reading my book. I had a bit of time to kill in Edinburgh until my bus arrives, but all in all my travel plans went very smoothly.
TT had saved me some tea, which I was very much looking forward to. I then went out for a last few steps, to get my weekly count up.
I had twenty minutes to spare before my train home, so I had a wander over to the V&A.
