Sunshine at last!
In the morning I was supposed to be taking Dad for an appointment to have (I think) his mobility assessed. In the event it didn't happen as he had been up in the night with back pain and almost fallen a few times. Southport Hospital eventually advised an ambulance to our local A&E and so he was taken in at noon.
After lunch youngest had a GP visit after which we took a stroll up across the 'good walk ruined' ( sorry Golfing friends here, only kidding ;-D ) and down the other side of the hill along Yew Tree Lane.
Halfway down before reaching Early Bank Rd I hopped over the fence to look at some stone slabs on the site of Windy Harbour (top right)...old maps show what was either a couple of cottages or a single dwelling here with a Well in the back yard.
A little further down the lane I spotted a low stone lintel in a tall section of the dry stone retaining wall (bottom left) and wondered what it's purpose may have been. Am guessing it may have been a Well or Horse Trough but cannot find anything on the old mapping and there wouldn't have been a watercourse above ground here either so that one is a mystery.
Top left and bottom right are some colour spotted along the way.
