Hunting in the 1940’s
This is a photo of my father before a hunt sometime in the 1940’s I think. See the car and the clothes on others. My grandfather went hunting frequently and his three sons all had horses too. I’m not sure when my father gave up riding , possibly when he got married. He did not have a horse when I was young. I have been doing some more of my life story, a section about horses and riding. I did learn to ride when at secondary school but did not have a pony of my own and was never that keen.
However my family did go to point-to -points and also to the races ( not flat racing). My parents continued to be members at Wincanton race course into their 80’s. They also went to Cheltenham, Newbury, Taunton, Newton Abbot etc. My father also used to watch lots of racing on TV and put on a few bets too. When he spent his last few years in a nice care home he has the racing channel on his TV!
Another busy day…a swim first then a thorough clean of the porch and redid the pots at the front of the house. Then to gardening club and pick up of the grand children.
