Double Trouble!
D had to take our car to Perth to get serviced first thing this morning so I was on breakfast duty with Andrew.
I had my weetabix ready to go but once I started making Andrew's French toast I couldn't resist, and the Weetabix was put back into the cupboard :-)
D got the train back to Gleneagles station at 10am and Penny picked him up. Alan slept through all of this.
Whilst Penny was getting Alan out of bed she got Andrew to work hoovering the hall at Alan's end of the house. He was so happy to be asked to do this (this lad was born to be helpful) and was rewarded by a large mug of coffee and a large shortbread cookie.
When Vickie arrived at 2pm she got the pair of them organised and they headed off to St Andrews for the afternoon, finishing up with fish suppers at Anstruther.
As I suspected last night I wasn't happy with the edge of my crochet blanket and ripped the final round out. After consultation with my fellow crocheter Withers, I redid the final round in a slip stitch edge and I am MUCH happier with it. I used a slip stitch to join the squares so don't know why it didn't occur to me do use the same stitch for the border, but it's all sorted now and I am mighty relieved.
The next issue is finding a gift box big enough to fit it! The one I bought isn't deep enough so I've ordered another one as well as an extra large gift bag incase the second box isn't big enough. I've also ordered ribbons that match the colour of the blanket to tie round the box, and made a little card (in extras) with a version of the washing line painting on it to put the washing instructions for the blanket in.
Late afternoon, with the boys in Fife and D at the driving range, I snuggled with Lola and continued reading the book I started in hospital last week. One of the upsides of having life interrupted by illness is it slows me down enough to read a book, something that used to be my number one pastime, which now rarely happens.
Delicious Piri Piri chicken from the butcher for dinner. Couldn't eat it all but I enjoyed what I had.
Death in Paradise then bed.
I've had worse days :-))
