A Glorious Day
Why was it a glorious day? Several reasons...
We woke to bright sun and a blue sky - always welcome - but also to an early morning shade temperature of 9°C. Later in the day it was up to 14°C and in the sun much, much warmer. Wonderful!
We hung out our washing to dry, for the first time this year. It may be a mundane happening, but it always creates a great feeling.
Flowers literally popped up. Yesterday there were no crocusses outside the front door; today they were there, like small diamonds in the dead vegetation.
The traditional (in Sweden) fire to welcome the spring. 30 April, Walpurgis night, burning the old before the new arrives.
Good friends to share a cup of tea, a G&T, the fire with some mulled wine, and then a delicious fish soup (thank you Jan) and for pudding, chocolate chip cookies (thank you Rose). Yours truly provided newly baked sourdough bread. The latter was supposed to be a repeat of my previous success but pride comes before a fall. For some reason the dough was really liquid and I ended up pouring it into loaf tins and baking it. The resulting bread was tasty but rather unusual, with a good crust and a sort of crumpet-like crumb. Oh well, eat your mistakes!
Rusty the dog arrived with Clair. She is off to Porto for a week and Rusty will spend his holidays with us.
Many reasons to be grateful today, some represented in today's photos, both main blip and the 2 extras.
