THE BLUE ISLANDS CRUISE

Hubby is quite a bit better now, still a bit slow of course but still a lot better.  So as it was Garron's last day until his next visit at the end of June I decided to use my Resident's Card and take him on a Windermere Cruise, which I haven't done for a few years.

We got to Bowness by about 10.00 pm and after parking up, went to pay parking and realised you could book your cruise there are the same time so we opted for the Blue Islands Cruise, which is 45 minutes and has an excellent commentary.

The next boat was due to leave at 10:15 and we were on board by 10:10, perfect timing.  There were only 6 of us on this particular cruise bet it's not like that this weekend!!!

We needed coats at this point as it was quite blowy on the lake and sun was behind hazy cloud, but still not really that cold.  We had the freedom of walking about the boat to take photos and bought a coffee for me and a hot chocolate for Garron to sip whilst enjoying the view.  We both took way too many photos, but still it was very very pleasant.  I've never actually done this cruise before and it takes you a different part of the lake to what I've been used to so all is good.  It was great to see The Heroes Temple at The Storrs Hall Hotel from the boat, I've been there many times and waved at people passing but never seen it from the lake side, all very lovely.

A really lovely little cruise.  As we disembarked the skies turned blue and it got very warm.  We headed on up through Bowness, slowly for Garron, and popped into St Martin's Church as Garron showed an interest in seeing it.  I have photographed it before but it was still good to see again. We then went on up to the Angel Inn.  I haven't been in there since it had new owners but I know CumbriaLass likes it in there as they very dog friendly.

It was very pleasant, the music a bit loud for me but still as it was very quiet no problem.  The food was good, portions a bit big and I didn't read that the sandwiches came with chips, so I couldn't eat all of mine, still very nice all the same, on lovely sourdough bread which in itself was rather large.

As we left it had got very warm indeed so wrapped my coat around my waist and headed on down through Bowness.  The stupidness of some tourists amazes me, one poor driver had to toot and slam his breaks on someone just stepped out onto the road to take a photo, that has happened to us before.  On heading back to the car, a coach load of tourists came heading our way, so being polite we single filed up, but not them, they were three abreast and actually knocked into me without so much as an apology, grrrrr!!!  Oh well, it's only some folk.

After we got home, had a cup of tea then headed out to vote in our local elections.  It was quite busy down there,

Now home and starting to edit my photos.
