Claire and Phil and Lunch at Popeye’s

Public holiday here today and we met our friends Claire and Phil for lunch in Popeye’s. It was a lovely sunny day, but still a bit nippy out of the sun and so we decided on here inside, rather than a terrace.

Claire was the friend here who I confided in and who gave me support in the days leading up to Bb’s diagnosis. A good friend indeed. Last Friday, she was in Paris for work and she received an unexpected phone call to say her mother had passed away during the night. She managed to get through the day, performing her IELTS duties, and returned to Barcelona on Saturday night. Despite that news and the sharing of experiences of recent events, we had a really lovely lunch together. There were laughs and tears - I think from all of us!

Today would have been our dad’s 89th birthday and he was in our thoughts and my brother busboy and I exchanged a few texts during the day.

Just for the record, for lunch, we shared calamares, tuna tataki and pan con tomate to start, then three of us had fish (my salmon was delicious) and one had steak. Then shared crema de maracuyá for dessert.

We forgot to take pics in the restaurant, so this is in the street, after lunch.
