Mum, my eldest big brother and Pip with the sculpture of Duke, a pony who was a local legend. Pit ponies had a terrible existence but at least Duke was well-loved by the miners and the local community, especially children. He was the last pit pony in South Yorkshire and lived to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
