Aphrodisiac/Hangover Cure Looking Good

I love the bold look of globe artichokes, this one in particular as it is beautifully purple.

Quite a faff to prepare, cook and eat but when one gets to the exquisitely textured, delicately flavoured fond it is obvious why these members of the thistle family are considered aphrodisiacs. European women were banned from eating them.
