Mise en place (3)

Start of a heavy weekend. Yet another quick pre-concert photo. We actually had an official photographer for this concert. I think her day job must be as a wedding photographer because she took scores of photos during both the warmup and the concert, alternately darting around and crawling on the floor to get close-ups and unusual angles. I haven't seen any of the results yet -- it will be interesting to see what she came up with.

It's a large cathedral with very reverberating acoustics, so getting used to it was tricky. We have sung here before, and the main thing I remember was how perishingly cold it was. I've never shivered so much while singing. Luckily that wasn't the case this evening. Also luckily for both warmth and acoustics, we had an impressively large audience. There must have been 200 people (enough to fill half the pews) and they were very enthusiastic. I'm pretty sure we'll have made a profit on this one.

As for me, I felt quite tired before the concert, and I was exhausted afterwards. I was driving on my own this time, so I didn't hang around long, and was glad to get home to a mournful cat and a mug of herb tea. More singing tomorrow (well, today as I write this).
