Sunny Upton
Another year has gone by so it was time for our annual visit to Upton Folk Festival. We got there early (well 10:30ish) to be sure of getting a parking space. The weather was brilliant. Apparently yesterday it was like being in the Lake District (according to a Lake District Border Morris side that is, and they should know). The usual camp site was flooded. It seemed busier than recent years with lots of sides there, though mrsfb's old chums Nancy Butterfly were conspicuous by their absence. We met a few people we knew though. There were belly dancers this year too, though not the same ones that we had seen before. I took over 300 photos (!) most of which will be deleted. I got a bit obsessed with shadows and reflections, and also took a lot in continuous shooting mode in the hope of getting some decent action shots.
Not quite what we had planned but we had lunch in an Italian restaurant by the river. A pasta dish and a glass of wine for £10. Very nice it was too. It was surprisingly quiet, though every now and again you could hear bells as a Morris dancer came in to get a take away coffee.
We had an ice cream later of course just before we left for home.
Upton upon Severn is an interesting place. We should have a blipmeet there. Lots of potential for Derelict Sunday shots though.
Update: I forgot to say that we also popped into a small art gallery/shop as it was closed last year and there was a painting we liked in the window of a woman reading a book. The artist was there and knew exactly what we were after. He showed it to us but we realised it was way too big and we had probably been wondering if there was a small print of it. Good job we weren't that interested - it was priced at £1500. Mrsfb realised that the person in the painting was his wife, as she was in the shop too. He admitted that she wasn't there when he painted it. He took a photo of her reading a book, copied that and painted her in later. These artists! Just like Photoshop though :-)
