Alas, I didn’t think to have Karen snap a picture in time because I like it for Silly Saturday.

Ukraine says it destroyed six Russian warplanes in a major drone attack Friday. “If the Ukrainian reports are accurate, the operation would rank among Kyiv’s most successful cross-border strikes since the war began in Feb. 2022.” - Daily Beast


Sanctions have blocked a huge Russian LNG (liquified natural gas - gas cooled to liquid to make it easier to ship) plant in the arctic. The Novatek PJSC-led Arctic LNG 2 facility cost $25 BILLION dollars and is idle. With the sanctions even buyers in China and India are refusing to buy discounted LNG. Shipbuilders have vessels worth hundreds of millions of dollars stuck in South Korea. No one can buy or lease them. Because the plant hadn’t even started shipping yet, this hurts Russia without impacting markets. 


Initially Ukraine’s military was not keen on drones. They wanted conventional arms. Some in the military dismissed them as “wedding photography drones.” Ukraine began building their own because Russia began buying all of China’s commercial drones. In 2023 Ukraine set up Brave1, a government-run technology agency and incubator that helps connect private enterprise to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukraine will be a world leader in drones.
