Memories

This tranquil bridge and sheltered bench often feature in my rides, for obvious reasons.

This time the flowers had appeared, and it struck me that whoever placed them had some treasured memories to reflect on. By adding such a blaze of colour to this scene, I'm sure that they have prompted more people to pause a little longer and add to their own enjoyment.

So a bittersweet celebration of moments now passed has triggered new memories for a wider group of people.

For interest, this flat site is part of a now-dismantled "Sprat and Winkle" railway line which ran from Andover to Redbridge, on the South coast. The line was built on the course of the fading canal - once filled in it provided a level route with no new bridges to build.

I could argue this is a derelict railway on a derelict canal. Or just appreciate the flowers.

Thanks for hosting, Marlieske.
