Up and got sorted then retrieved my bike from the cyclehoop and cycled over to LE’s flat. Once LL and DR arrived we played with the cat, chatted about housing, grand pianos crashing to the ground, dogs, decorating, LL’s daughter’s new job and car troubles, back pain and exercise, plans for our trip to Siena next weekend and their less fixed holiday ideas. As news came in of a new student encampment in Old College, and after we’d enjoyed lasagne, salad and cheesecakes, LE kindly pumped up my tyres and I set off home again. I came via the Meadows where the blossom is nearly over, and decided I was enjoying myself too much to go home so did a circuit of the Meadows then went around Holyrood park. I do love cycling, even though having not been out for ages I had to remind myself of how best to work the gears and motor on different gradients. Despite it not being very sunny it wasn’t too cold and I had a lovely time.
So much easier to leave the bike in the cyclehoop on the street than struggling with the stairs, and once home I ended up having a bit of a rest after a couple of late nights.
Once I was up and about again I had a long chat with A and then with T, then watched a Tom Hanks film Otto which was good, then a documentary by Michael Palin on the Danish artist Hammershoi on iPlayer which was interesting..I rather liked his muted and enigmatic paintings.
VW and I texted back and forth about our planned trip next year, comparing notes and tips from various friends. We need to crack on and plan it out!
