Day out to Dorset.

Quite a long day out. When I booked I hadn't twigged it was bank holiday weekend!

Main pic is  Corfe castle.  I got off the coach here, had a walk, then caught the little steam train into Swanage, where I boarded the coach back. 

The extra is a view from the pier in Swanage. The local museum covers the early days of digging out and marketing Purbeck stone. It used to have to be loaded onto small boats and taken out to the bigger ones moored in deeper water for transport - until someone had the bright idea of building a pier!
