Reflections of us

A trip to the zoo, through a raffle prize, brings us up close to chimpanzees. A dreich day brought the troop inside, and we were there for their lunch of leeks. Mesmerising just how similar to us they are, in every way. Their fingers, ears, and the backs of their heads are all very human. No wonder the Bridge over the River Kwai author, Pierre Boulle, saw in them a different human narrative in his creation - Planet of the Apes.
