A not very early start to the day for me, and it was grey and damp, so there was more housework to be done.  BB later complained that he had been woken up by the hoover!  I escaped late morning and took a walk down by the river.  There was no sign of the goslings and the goose was still on the riverbank, with the swan  between him and his family.  I also saw the swan terrorise a duck with nine ducklings.  She gathered her brood together, walked them over the island and swam off down the other side of the river.  The poor mother goose was honking a lot.

I wandered home with a few provisions .  TT made us paninis.  I did some more tidying up – I really need to do some clearing out – but didn’t quite get to that.  Meanwhile TT was gardening and planted some potatoes.  Late afternoon, I popped out for a quick walk along the road.  I bumped into one of BB’s friends and her mum.  Of course we had some exam and university chat.

Once home, I quickly got myself ready to go out.  A couple of friends were on the bus from Edinburgh and we met them when they got off.  We  went to a local café for some food – pizza and tapas, which was very nice.  We then made our way along to the Corn Exchange to see “Jack Docherty: David Bowie and Me”. The show was very good, very funny.  We were really surprised that there were empty seats.  However, we didn’t even know it was on – it was our friends who had heard of it and got the tickets.  Maybe they need to market shows a bit better locally.  There were then some more drinks at the local tap room, before R and L ran off to get a bus home, and we wandered home.  Once home I read that the SSPCA had been called to the goose/swan situation, and they took the four remining goslings away.  How sad.

I popped into St Mary’s Pleasance earlier today, and this Welsh poppy provided a real splash of colour on an otherwise dull day.
