A nice day out at Basildon Park
Not such nice weather as yesterday. Raining as we set off and on the M3/M4 but luckily it had stopped raining when we got to Basildon Park NT House and gardens, near Reading. We had a nice meet up with our children and grandchildren…..all nine of us. A walk and playing with the ball runs and climbing on various trees that have fallen down and been left for children to climb plus make dens.
This is a view over one of the fields, there are lots of paths around the estate.
We did not take a picnic because of the dodgy weather so managed to get a big table in the old kitchen part of the cafe, which also allows dogs. We all had a nice lunch..baked potatoes or Cornish pasties including the nice cauliflower curry ones they do at NT cafes, all with salads. Plus three children’s meals. Very good value! I had taken two cakes plus candles for the birthday boys from earlier in the week..…grandson 5 and grandad . The other people in the cafe joined in singing Happy Birthday!
We had a big fierce shower while having lunch but OK afterwards and the journey home not too bad. Apparently it had been raining all day at home .
A really nice day out for all of us…and some nice photos of the family together. ( But we have a total ban on the grandchildren being on any form of social media/ website) .
