Tower
I snapped the page of the album on Wednesday at a recently convened meeting of the Family History Society held in the Bordertown library on the 1st Wednesday of every month.
Yesterday's photo is of one of the two-page spread of photos of the 1938 build of the town's tower to rectify a water supply problem reported
here on 22 November 1938 including some specs.
The photographs are attributed to the late Mr P. Doig as the album is known to have been his property. Mr Doig was a teacher in Bordertown.
The note attached to the page (top) identifies the album is an item out of a parcel of source material held in the archives of the Bordertown library of the history written by Alan Jones* of the district.
On the subject of the history: it has a significant amount of chronological reporting that is disadvantaged because the volume does not have an index.
With an index one could be guaranteed of honing in with economy on a faithful report of a population living on this edge of the larger affairs of state in South Australia ... without it is hard to imagine South Australia's survival.
