Hanging Around

Bodgit and Scarper, the rock star friendly builders, were in action again today. Stuart had bought a new wall hanger to accommodate some of his vast collection of guitars, but his attempt at putting it up had not gone well. Apparently, he “needed a bigger tool”!
Ever happy to oblige, I loaded the car with as many drills as I could find and went through to Barrow this morning. Looking at the wall, I could see that some of the holes he had drilled were only into plasterboard, rather than masonry. A bit of judicious tapping on the wall ascertained that if I drilled a new set of holes a couple of inches to the right, I could get more of them into solid brick.
As it happened, there was still one screw which was a bit loose when I’d finished but, the hanger is now sitting flush to the wall and eleven out of the twelve mounting screws are pretty tight. I suggested that he only put three guitars up for now, to check it was as secure as it felt. Or use it as a hanger only for acoustics. Just to be on the safe side you understand.
Naturally, a quality job like this comes with a lifetime guarantee. Or until I drive out of his street. Whichever is sooner…
