Ground level
I've been fond of taking this view from our bedroom window, so it makes a change to see it from ground level. This road has been closed for a few days whilst the scaffolding is removed and whilst further works to connect up the services are being undertaken. I guess we are finally in the end game of the building works at least at this end of the site.
I started the day with an early peloton and then managed to have my shower and get my earbuds in just in time to participate in the early "incident" meeting. Thereafter followed the most elongated trip to work on the bus possible....walking up from the St Mary's (catholic) Cathedral. The encampment has grown in size, and - to be honest - is changing in character in ways that some might find a bit problematic. Meanwhile, many of my colleagues have published an open letter that states, in terms, "please, University of Edinburgh, abide by international law". Now there's a sentiment I can get behind. I couldn't make the meeting in the afternoon, as I had a meeting with some senior lawyers, but I'll log on tomorrow morning.
Most other meetings were short and simple, but as always generated some additional challenges.
I intended to listen to the whole of the second Gifford lecture, but initially couldn't find the live stream. I found it eventually, in time to listen to the last ten minutes and the Q&A. I found the latter particularly interesting.
