Yellow Wagtail

I took the photo at Virginia Water in Surrey back in April. I have never seen yellow wagtails before and in fact there were a pair of them. This one was putting on a display for it's mate.

Having been at work today, I wanted to do a quick sketch to relax me at the end of the day.  It probably took me around an hour to do. It is a tiny picture, 18cm by 9cm.  My Inktense watercolour pencils are limited to 12 colours so it was a challenge to match the colours. I discovered that orange and blue makes a lovely grey, which was perfect for this bluey-grey bird.

All in all, a relaxing time and I learnt a bit more about the amazing world of colour.
