Buttercups And Blue Skies
……….. a beautiful warm spring day ;-)
Today I’ve been back to the village where I grew up - for the past 5-6 weeks I have been trying to contact the vicar there, to arrange for the burial of my mum’s ashes ( I finally feel I’m able to to that now ). The vicar hasn’t responded to any of my calls or messages, so I thought I would try knocking on his door.
Anyway, I got sidetracked in the churchyard before I even got to his house and I ended chatting to someone who has lived in the village for as long as mum had and who just happens to be on the church council with responsibility for the garden of remembrance.
I’ve known him ever since I was a child ( I went to school with his son ), so I got invited back to his house where his wife joined us and we got into reminiscing about the old days. They are both in their 90s now, but in full possession of all their marbles, so it was really interesting to hear some of their stories.
They were really helpful regarding getting the ashes buried and phoned the church warden ( someone else I knew of old ) who said she would mobilise the vicar into action and get him to phone me to arrange a date - result ;-))
I’m so pleased I took the time to go, even though it is quite a long journey ……… and it just goes to show - it’s not what you know, it’s who you know ;-))
