Mate Mick hissed "quick - there's a heron on that stump and my battery's flat"

So a quick lens swap huddle occurred and I got this blip....of what I think is actually a young cormorant. But if it is it's a long way out of its comfort zone here - as far inland as you can get!

Heron indeed. Who's the mug now, Mick? But thanks for the lend of the 85-300! Great lens. It's what friends are for, innit?
