Caravanning cousins

It was lovely to have a visit from cousins S and D. They were very kind to us when we were starting out as caravanners and they gave us lots of help and advice. We also shared some great camping experiences.

In 2010 we met up with S and D in WA, in the Margaret River area. Here they are intrepidly tackling the Gloucester tree near Pemberton. Karri trees like this one were frequently used as fire lookouts, with a watching platform high up in the tree, reached by a hundred or more of these pegs driven into the trunk. None of us reached those dizzy heights. We were happy to pose for the photo at ground level.
