Wood Sandpiper #53

We hadn't been to Lunt Meadows for over 4 months, mainly as it's a flood plain and has been ridiculously wet and muddy, so we thought it was about time we paid it another visit. 
The warblers were out in force and singing away - it was wonderful in the warm spring sunshine. Until we got halfway round, my blip was going to be the whitethroat which I have added to extras. 
However, one of the birders we met on the way round, said that there was a wood sandpiper showing on the back pool, so off we trotted to find it. It started on the far side and it took us a while to locate it, but eventually it came closer and with a big zoom and crop, here it is. 

It's only the second time I've ever seen one as they don't breed in the UK very often - and when they do, it's mostly in Scotland. They drop in sometimes during their migration to Africa and Southern Asia. 
They're a little smaller than a redshank and quite a pretty looking medium sized wader. I was very happy to see one today.
