Ferns

Had a lovely afternoon with friends at the Manor House garden in the next village. The garden is magnificent and the house is a historical gem. The author and quilter Lucy Boston lived and worked here for many years until her death in 1989/90 (can’t quite remember). Now it’s the home of Lucy’s daughter in law, Diana Boston, and the garden is looked after by her granddaughter, Kate Boston. It’s really worth a visit anytime you’re in Cambridgeshire.
The main and extras are at their best right now: ferns in an unexpectedly sunny spot, deep violet irises, ragged Robin, and the newly trimmed topiary chess pieces which feature in Lucy’s Green Knowe books.
