Homeward bound - Lisbon to Stansted
Not before heading to the newer end of Lisbon for brunch at Zenith, which had been recommended to us by Joanne’s son. So we packed our cases first, then walked the 20 minutes to Zenith. It was funky, trendy and the food looked amazing. We ordered our breakfasts, and some coffee, then enjoyed an hour eating. All really tasty food.
From there we walked back via another route, to find a bakers where we had bought pastel de nata (Portuguese egg custard tarts) once before, and liked them more than some we bought in Belem (which were supposed to be the best in the country)
A pack of 6 bought, we then made our way back to the apartment to wait until our checking out time, at midday.
Flight wasn’t until 5.15 so needed to be at the airport by 3.15, but it was very hot, and so we walked to the taxi ranks and got the taxi to the airport. Then a long afternoon of waiting.
Flight eventually took off at 6, and I was braver this time, as we took off, looking out of the window, and even taking photos. In fact taking photos (on my phone) has been a feature of the week. I’ve taken far too many, and will need to delete some.
All quite straightforward on the flight, and we ate sandwiches, read our books and relaxed. Landed at 8.30, got bags, and Karen then drove us back.
Joanne got in her car to drive home, and I’m staying the night.
It’s been a lovely nearly week with two lovely friends. Thank you to them both for giving me the opportunity to fly again after 30 years. I’ve now got out of my comfort zone, and may have a go at doing the whole flying somewhere holiday myself!!
