Stilleruptal
Busier day exploring. We took a cable car and did some walking but the cloud was low and wet so we didn't see much. Headed back to the valley for kaffe and kuchen before making a spur-of-the-moment decision to get the bus up the Stillerup valley to the hydro dam. It was a treat. The bus squeezed along a narrow toll road through an possibly narrow and very deep wooded gorge, then suddenly emerged into alpine meadows with a handful of old-world farms, cows with bells clanging and the low grassy dam stretching across the valley. The reservoir was turquoise and surrounded by half a dozen huge waterfalls tumbling down the mountainsides. We could see the Italian border (shrouded in mist) and the kids found yet another play area in glorious surroundings. Beautiful.
