Summer days

A very sociable walk this morning, we bumped into George, Henry, Marty, Fin, and Scooby (all dogs!). Henny was mostly only interested in her ball though, and Jacob was mostly only interested in our picnic.

Highlight of the day though was going to Portobello beach as Stephan had a random meeting down that way. Jacob spent ages just digging his bare feet into the sand and filling his bucket up before tipping it all out. We then paddled in the sea where Jacob insisted on sitting down. I had bought spare clothes so just stripped him down and let him have fun. The sea was surprisingly warm. When that tired Jacob out he sat on my lap wrapped in a towel, eating sandwiches and watching planes fly over our heads. It was perfect. His excited screams of "DaDa" when Stephan returned to pick us up bought tears to my eyes.

Henny made friends with a boy called Bartek who told me that he was "7, not 6" - obviously an important point to make! The two of them had a wonderful time running around in the sea with a tennis ball.
