After April when May follows…
By comment consent when you get lovely weather in May it is England at its best. Flowers come in waves of species and colour, the world is alive with birdsong and roses are coming out in the gardens. If deer haven’t nipped their buds off.
Walking in the woods this morning I loved this mossy stump with a sprinkling of a few bluebells and the foxgloves coming through. I can imagine someone trying to recreate this at Chelsea.
The day started less calmly with a crow banging on the glass windows downstairs and making the dog bark. I came down to find a whole lot of plants, that had been in flimsy pots ready to be planted, , scattered all over the patio with the pots shredded or carried off. I hope some baby crows are being born into scratchy nests as a result. 5.20am, it’s always 5.20am.
After my walk it was a busy day in the barn, but the birdsong coming through was always lovely.
In the evening we had an Indian meal in Liss, which was disappointing although the restaurant is clearly hugely popular and much loved as it was large and pretty full by 7.30pm. We then went to see The Fall Guy, the new Emily Blunt Ryan Gosling film which was billed as fun but I thought fairly overworked. We stuck it out and I enjoyed the last section but really think it was a bit of a mess and am not hugely surprised it hasn’t made the impact.
