Too light for northern lights
The news was there's a big solar storm going on. The northern lights will be blazing and visible a long way south. So at a quarter past midnight I went out to see what was happening. I looked north but the sky was still full of light from the sun a bit below the horizon - no northern lights...
I checked south, where it was quite a bit darker. Normally there's no aurora in the south but I could see the faintest red aurora waving in the light sky, almost hidden by the light that hid all the stars except the 4 or 5 brightest.
Let's hope for some more solar storms in the winter when it's really dark.
Written and blipped just over 24 hours later after watching Eurovision 2024. A competition with a bit of extra tension this year. However, the show went on and was full of good music, wonderful stage effects, and an audience having a great time. Well done Sweden for putting on a great show!
