A road sign.

This sign indicates a Marae (which is a communal or sacred place that serves as a religious and social focal point of Maori communities throughout NZ. A place to stand and belong . explanation from Wikipedia )
This sign is a representation of a famous photograph of Dame Whina Cooper, holding the hand of her granddaughter, as they were starting the 1975 land march. She lead the Māori land march, a protest against the loss of Māori land, from the top of the North Island to Parliament in Wellington, a distance of 1,100 km, at the age of 79. This is not a common sign on our roads but as Dame Whina came from the north, (the area we are travelling in), it’s very appropriate.
