The Gorbals
Continuing the street art theme because this example was right by our hotel. We ran the Glasgow City orienteering race, and explored the area behind the hotel that was The Gorbals, using the Adventure Lab quiz app on our phones.
It taught us about the history of the area that was the gateway to Glasgow for Irish, Jewish and Asian immigrants for centuries and has been redeveloped at least three times. The 60s tower blocks were not a success. We learnt that at its peak in the 1930s the Gorbals was home to about 90,000 people havng grown from 5200 in 1811. Its considerably less now.
