Walnlockhead Beam engine

Water powered beam engine. Stream water fed down off the hillside was used to power this beam pump that lifted water from the lead mine shafts below, to run off into the valley stream.

It was fitted in 1870 as a cheaper and reliable replacement for the previous steam engine pump thus ran for about 40years.
