Oh my Hat!
... as my mother in law would say !
Decided after a lovely hot week when sun hats were dusted off and used in the garden that it was time to repair my husbands straw hat. Not really having a clue if it was possible to keep it going and stop it from deteriorating so quickly I bought some glue and was resolved to patch it from the inside using some linen and just going with that.. but then suddenly I wondered if it would be possible to use some dried sweet corn husks that I have left over from cord making last year. By jove I think it has worked!! It was a little fiddly I must say and I had to be very careful not to do more damage to the already frail broken area..
I am waiting for my husband to approve it before trimming off the (rather fancy) ends..it will be a teatime surprise for him to see it!
A little rain now and that will be welcomed by the garden.. it is surprising how fast things have started drooping this week.. I think the moisture built up over the spring has allowed everything to outgrow itself so the lack of rain this week and the glorious sunshine has been a shock to the system and many things just wilted in my garden.
