Two Peas in a Pod

Well, two beans in a pod, but you get the drift. In a serendipitous moment, Wildwood has posted about fava beans as well. The bean, as you can see, comes nicely packaged in a soft spongy shell. There are from 3 to 5 beans per pod, You take them out of the pod, parboil them to loosen the protective husk, which is then removed.
