Barkeval and then ferry
Final day on Rum. Overnight the heavens opened and drowned the island. This morning, the midges appeared in force. We packed up, dumped the camping gear at the bunkhouse and then strode up the Coire Dubh path back onto the main ridge, but headed for the outlier summit of Barkeval.
On the ascent I received notification from Caledonian Macbrayne that our ferry had generator problems and was delayed. Forty minutes later the 'problem' had been resolved and the ferry was on its way.
We ate at the summit, admired the view of the whole island, looking back to Cille Mhoire from yesterday's walk, and along the peaks of the Cuillin from Saturday.
Picture shows an overcast Hallival and Askival above the Atlantic Corrie.
