Straight lines

PY was off on his work trip to Lyon today. He left the house at the usual time, which got him into the Eurostar in plenty of time for his departure. In the meantime, I had to get up earlier than usual to ensure I'd had breakfast and was ready if they came to service the alarm at the earliest point in the booking window. And that's precisely what happened, just after 8am. I saw a van pull up across the road, and a few minutes later, the engineer knocked on the door. It's probably not pleasant for the neighbours to have all of the internal alarms being regularly set off at that time, even if it is for a few seconds for every test. The backup and batteries in several sensors needed replacing, and it was completed in about half an hour.

I haven't been to my Tai Chi class for a few weeks. Last week was the artificial intelligence conference that I went to, and a week before, it turned out that Wednesday was the only opportunity to meet up with Esteban while he was in the country. This week I decided to go. I was on the platform, waiting for the train. I looked down the railway, saw this relatively straight line in the distance, and thought it made an interesting photo. For some reason, photos of train tracks are quite a common thing on my feed, I think.

I struggled with the warmup sessions today because my arm is worsening. The range of movement, particularly backwards, is decreasing. Earlier in the afternoon, I finally succumbed, and I booked a doctor's appointment. It started as a joke explaining the condition to a colleague. George said he would only speak to me in the office tomorrow if I'd booked an appointment. Although it was just a bit of back-and-forth banter, by the time I hung up the call, I realised that the discomfort was not easing, and I really ought to get an opinion, even just to allow me to sleep. So it is booked.
