The Waverley
Tonight I attended the preview of the artist Sofia Perina-Miller's exhibition, 'From Garden to Garment' at The Hill House in Helensburgh.
Sofia was born in Leningrad in 1974. Throughout her childhood Sofia developed her innate artistic talent and entered a specialist art school before going on to the University of Technology and Design in Saint Petersburg where she gained her degree in Fine Art and Textiles.
Following graduation, Sofia worked simultaneously as an artist and a private art tutor at her studio in her home city. The artist's move to Scotland in 2000 heralded a new, experimental use of decorative and fine art and she began to develop a distinctive style of floral painting, combining watercolour and gel pen. Since moving to Scotland, Sofia has built upon her past achievements.
I was going to use one of Sofia's textiles as my blip, but when I was driving home I noticed the Waverley heading down the Clyde on an evening Showboat trip. As it was such a beautiful evening I could not resist catching up with her in Port Glasgow and taking some shots as she passed the lighthouse.
