Paella
Around 11am, we headed out for what turned out to be an almost seven-mile walk into Arrecife. It's a lovely walk along the coast. Starting near our resort and quickly reaching the end of the runway. I opened up the flight tracker app to find where the planes were coming from or going to. About an hour in, we stopped for a drink and then continued. The path, shared with bicycles, is easy to walk and hugs the shoreside. Occasionally, we opted to take a shortcut across a sandy bay rather than stick to the path. And the weather was good for us: not too hot but none of the promised rain.
When we arrived in Arrecife, we needed to decide where to eat. We ended up at a waterside restaurant that we knew would be overpriced: we were paying for the setting rather than the food. PY, Mark, and I opted for the daily menu, and Rob for a burger from the main menu. His was cheaper and much better value.
Unusually, one of the daily menu options was a paella starter that came in a tiny pan. It was tasty but clearly decanted from a bigger pot or microwaved. It was, however, much better than Mark's tiny salad, which was almost an insult. I don't think he got over it all day. The grilled chicken main— a small portion — was OK but a bit chewy. I think we should have found better.
