The aurora
Summer has hit! 24 degrees in the classroom … 23 degrees outside!
This evening Sarah and Nick arrived. As we sat and chatted Cathie said there was an aurora alert for 1-2am. We all thought, ‘No! We’ll be in bed.’ But then FB went mad with postings and we had a closer look. It suggested a peak at 10-11. We decided we might as well try but fully expected to see nothing.
I’m so glad we went! We went up to Black Park. The place was rammed! Cars lined the whole road and you could see lots of people out watching but it was so quiet when we joined them.
Not much at first, just a faint green streak which was mostly visible when you’d taken a photo. But then it gradually intensified and we got pink streaks and just gradually kept changing shape. It was lovely … and warm so very pleasant to stand out and watch it …. or lay on the heather as we ended up doing. :)
Hannah, Ian and Lizzie were there but we managed to miss each other as we both walked to where the other was! Haha! But we did bump into the Tucks. :)
So lovely. So glad we got to see the northern lights! Who would have thought it in Yorkshire?! :)
